I’m a few weeks behind welding the sills on this weekend,
was the rear wing section a used panels.?

No sir...I bought it new from Porsche about 15 years ago to use for a repair at the area next to the passengets side sill, the sill was replaced at the same time. At the time I was probably a little mad spending nearly £1k on a panel just to cut a small part off to use. It's paid me back though as the old body shop still had the left over section of wing. classic car panels are starting to make them but it’s going to be a few months before they are available
I guess I’m making one then[]
i only have a small amount of rust so I only need a small part of that panel

I got lucky with classic car panels re the sill..it arrived only a few days after the bodyshop ordered it. I guess someone else recently had ordered one meaning they had some in stock, cost a third the price of one from Porsche. I had used a lower front wing panel from the same company some years back...fitted well. I would have used a rear wing panel too but they didn't make that panel back then. As for rust, I'm amazed at what they have found, more so that most of it was still invisible even after taking it back to bare metal. They must have prodded the entire car looking for the smallest of holes and then welded them or cut out and replaced with metal. The holes around the rear panel above the bumper was a big surprise, there wasn't even a hint of corrosion under the paint. The sill had the tinest of holes and could have been patched but as it was the original sill decided best to change it.
Well done you in making your own, not easy when compond curves are involved...I look foward to seeing it finnished..

Yesterday I called the body shop for a progress update and was told that the car was in the paintbooth as we spoke so arranged to pop in this morning to see the old girl in her fresh red paint before reassembly begins.
Now this was always going to be a worrying time, was the paint as good as I hoped for, well I think the pictures can answer that one.
The paint was flawless, literally, the best that the car has ever been, remembering that this car is an ex-Concours winning car.

And the man himself in action, this is Ollie getting back to work once I had taken my pictures. The assistant manager Alex who's been looking after me said Ollie has about 3-4 days of polishing left to do before the car gets put back together, god knows where ...
