Cayman GT4: Where are we up to now?

Looks very nice Sandy. Colour shades are difficult to gauge in pictures but it does look slightly darker than the standard Racing Yellow.

Yellow - the launch colour - certainly looks to be the colour of choice for the GT4. Anything other than the standard colours is always going to be a shot in the dark and could prove to be an expensive mistake.

Jeff
I agree there's a certain risk going PTS, most of the standard colours are in fact pretty good.

Happy with my final choice though, will see how it goes.

A dynamic car is all about the drive .. it does not need to stand out.

In years to come, the loud 'look at me' flash colours of today will be tired.

it's all about being understated, like a Q car. Perhaps the extroverts enjoy the brash colours, and the introverts are more subtle.

From experience, the great thing about silver is that it never looks really dirty, even when it is...you only find out how dirty when it comes to washing the car! Something you can't say about white (and yellow?) cars.

Jeff

When we were at Osnabruck earlier this year during the early days of GT4 production, I posted on PH that the GT Silver cars looked the classiest colour of all, but of course got shouted down in the febrile atmosphere of that forum.

Subsequently seeing the wide range of colours chosen (PTS is a great option to break out of the Porsche conformity straightjacket), I would want to indulge in the angst of choosing a colour for me, from outside the conventional launch and standard range of colours. I say good for those that have done so and Porsche, who seem to have bowed to demand for a broader palette. (says a fellow with so far only Silver and White cars...)

I used to be less than keen on silver when it seemed that half the new cars on the road were silver and I found myself driving a loaned silver Boxster in a line of different makes but all close to the same shade. But now that silver seems less common I do like to see the occasional silver Porsche and particularly like the GT Silver and the greys but it doesn't concern me whatever colour car anyone has or likes it's individual preference. At least unlike most Ferrari owners we don't drive one colour! I have never chosen a car on colour having never had one from new but have occasionally had to look a car over before I decided to buy it just in case the colour scheme didn't suit me. I don't consider any colour as bland because the shape is in itself dramatic and the contours show up particularly well on a GT4 with the lighter colours. As Jeff says, silver doesn't show the dirt so much and I've long noticed that it also hides the stone chips far better than other colours.

You really are a monochrome person aren't you D, the world must be very boring for you as there is only your view and everyone else.

And on November 7, 2014 Jeff Nostradamus of this thread spoke...

"So my take on it is that the GT4 will have a detuned 3.8L with a power output of 380PS which will give an improvement in low speed torque over the 3.4L. The detune will most likely come from throttle body/plenum revisions and a DME remap; the exhaust system will of course be bespoke, with lower backpressure than that in the standard cars.

Finally, the price. Hopefully it'll hit the showrooms at around £65k, but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part as well as there being some garish colours - orange and green perhaps."

Spooky huh?

Jeff, can you PM me the winning numbers for Friday's Euro Millions?

Quiet interesting reading the early pages of this post, some things never change same person same old bull. Should have taken that bet!

Oh and I think the gt silver suits the gt4!

No I am not ! and please keep on topic and not start personal attacks , it's a forum I can have a view on a colour !!

same for Condor , stay on topic !! lets not make it personal it never ends well when people start Trolling esp gang trolling ! it's NOT Piston heads, so if you want to Troll users please go there !

You can call my car a cheese, a Banana or say its garish , it has no feelings, but to start calling people names is uncalled for.

Mr D .. you're quite right in not making it personal.

You need to respect other people have different views to you, instead of negating their views, which you do quite often.

You're entitled to your opinions, just like others are entitled to theirs. As you say, it is a forum, but you negate other people's views 'more than most'.

Since Mr D has requested me to remove this post I am editing it to remove my comments but I request that all members should a) try to be considerate of others feelings and to read their entries before posting, as I have said to him when typing something which is in our minds intended as humorous others can't see the "it's a joke expression" on the writers face, maybe they can imagine it if they know the person b) if all forum users edit their public profiles or recheck them regularly we can get to a position where the minimal information is at least accurate and so of use. c) understand that RO's and RS's do not have access to much information such as address's due to data protection which is highly restrictive due to the need for data security, we have only email, registration numbers, models where accurate ( some may not be but there are no GT4's listed ) post codes and names the rest is on the membership list held in the club HQ. Sometimes entries are incomplete or have minor errors hence the need to check entries in the club profile. A minor error in a small amount of information can make it virtually useless d) please ensure that your email address is accurate I had one response from a guy in Ireland telling me that I had the wrong address.

The Avatar panel cannot as yet be edited but this is under investigation and we should be able to correct this in the new year.

The methods available to moderators in policing the forum amount to little other than retaliation, deletion or editing, further if a member is particularly disruptive they can be blocked.

Would anyone like to borrow this for their signature feel free to help yourself if you do :ROFLMAO:
