Rolling Road day at JamSport Northampton 19/06/04

Wow, that was great!

My car was probably the puniest there with only 195bhp at the wheels/171ft.lb torque, but really enjoyed myself.

Big thank you to Paul for organising it, JamSport for doing such a nice job and everyone else for bringing their superb cars along, love those 944's.

Phil, if you are ever selling then look no further for a buyer, that car is absolutely proper.

(Chris R, you should have rung in sick - you missed a good day buddy!)

Few quick pics to follow

Cheers John, it was great turnout so thanks to all of you for making it work.

Yours certainly wasn't the lowest figure by a long shot, I believe we ranged from 163bhp to 323bhp. Rolling Road figures should always be taken with a bit of a pinch of salt but there were several completely standard cars that made within a few percent of what they are factory quoted, so I belive it was pretty accurate.

Rick (Eastendr) has a full spreadsheet of everyones figures, as well as plenty of pics, some video footage and even decibel readings for most cars so we should have all the stats once he gets back to sunny Essex

Thanks again everyone [:D][:D][:D]

Oops - I've somehow managed to delete one of Johns posts and one from Andy Jones too - sorry guys

Thanks to Paul for organising today. It was good to meet you all face to face and respect the cars.

Max Power 220BHP. 276lbft Torque - no mods.
It proved my thoughts that the car was not quite right. Leaky waste gate.

Yes and thanks again from me, nice to see some new faces and meet up with the old ones!
I think Rick may be some time, when I left he was talking about a return to the rollers.
Cheers,

Tony

the action wasn't confined to the rollers - John proves that some Porsche owners like to get their hands dirty!

Just checked my owner's manual and it says I should only have 172bhp/175ft.lb. with all the emissions stuff on, so pretty pleased with 195bhp/171ft.lb. At least I have a baseline figure to work from now.

I'll be back at JamSport very soon with exhaust mods to try out!

Thanks again Paul, see you later man.

Just like to voice my thanks aswell to Paul for organising this.

Nice to meet faces to names [:)]

And good to see 253 bhp. Still does what it says on the packet!!!

Unfortunately after seeing everyone elses today I feel the need for more boost.

Cheers folks

Lee

Adding to all the gushing praise, big thanks to Paul for sorting it and the guys at Jamsport for not blowing anything up, especially mine [:D]

I only had 1hp go missing in the sixteen years since the car was new, think Lee might have nicked it [;)]

Monster thanks to Paul for a great day, and for your considerable assistance in DPW fitting.

Whilst obviously disapointed that I couldn't provide a MAP run result, if it hadn't been for today I might have carried on in glorious ignorance into a state of melt down - so well worth the trip.

Andrew has things well in hand to sort my initial MAP glitches - Top Man -, and Rick did a stella job in dialing out my tickover problem as a temporary fix.

Fortunately, on the way to Jamsport despite being taunted by a flock of MR2's, I was laying off the power as my (now reduntant) Reliaboost was set too high. None the less, BKE seemed to have significantly more "go" than previously experienced. Taking into account how far out the initail settings seem to have been I have every confidence that, once set up correctly, the MAP solution should make a noticable difference.

To come back on thread -

Great to put faces to many of the names that pop up. Sorry if I didn't say goodbye to anyone but I was a little "distracted" post run.

Thanks again Paul, you have done me a far greater service then either of us could initialy have realised.

Sounds like all you guys had an excellant day - must have been great to have all those quality motors in one place , just thinking of my day at work surrounded by Hyundai Accents and Kia Sedonas []

Cheers Guys

Great picture John. I have taken the liberty of ripping it off and would like to include it on my web site if that is OK with you?

I'm not sure "like to get their hands dirty" is necessarily the correct term; perhaps more a case of necessity rather than choice. That said, there is some satisfaction in being able to stand back and say "I did that" or more accurately in this case "Paul, Phil and I did that." [:)]

Yes, top day. Cheers to Paul for thinking of it and organising it. Altogether too many pics of me in the boot of assorted 944's floating around now though...

Course you can have it John - it's your car! Have emailed you the big version. [;)]

Yet another pic. Thanks for your fitting advice Fen chip-wise.
Nice to meet you Paul and I'm sure the same as everyones sentiments of organising today[:D]
Also, nice to see everyone else and their great cars!
Cheers

John when you delete your own posts are you able to permanently delete them?

If you just put them in the recycle bin there seems to be a bug that hides the next post.

I've restored this one then edited it for you [:D]
