what did you do to your 944 today

Covers off, expensive one leaks......cheap one on top leaks even more, wheels on, check round, petrol in, a quick blast and now ready for Rutland (I hope).

Took the a Silver Rose down to Wayne Schofield @ Ninemeisters to re map it after removing the dump valve and fitting a Forge Motorsport re circulating valve. He has improved the boost, smoothing out the way it comes on tap and also how it drops off and has sorted a slight over fuelling. Wayne really knows his stuff and the car feels much more responsive (it wasn't bad before) and has also got quite a few more horses [:)]

Ah Ha, wondered where Mr Schofield had gone, he remapped the Turbo S Martin but it has had a few other tweeks since.

Broke it[] After a fun afternoon at Donnington this week I had the car cleaned and was going over the car with some detail spray today in the sun, cleaned engine bay a bit.... Then thought I had better drain out the catch can,it's in front left wing, has a pipe running 1/3 down the sill, anyway in a nutshell I snapped the tap off[] Hopefully it can be fixed when it goes in this week for some servicing at Leicester. So angry with myself for being hamfisted...

Booked the car in for a service at Leicester they will hopefully fix the tap.ordered the Spark plugs(different specification)and some air filter cleaner from Promax and will be visiting them at the end of the year for Cambelts and check over .

well, not today but on the weekend… had a lovely drive out to visit some friends in Kent. Missed spotting another guards red 944 on the way out of London. My girlfriend said "that's your car!" but i didn't spot it. Had a panic moment on the M20 going "a few miles per hour" with all windows open when i saw the car tax disc suddenly flutter then go flying. My first thought was it was out the window. Fortunately after stopping we found it in the back seat. Fun moment at my friends house when some of the other visitors insisted on going out to have a sit in the drivers seat of my car and a good poke and prod. First time they'd ever sat in a Porsche. "smaller than i'd thought". Good drive back into London on Sunday. Passed another 944 on the A2 back into London and was passed by him in turn. Also a rather nice Ferrari California to provide a splash of colour on the otherwise grey queues of people carriers trying to get across Blackheath. Missed the first half of the rugby because swmbo insisted that we had to stop at Sainsburys. Then a long sit in traffic on Old Kent Road for the last bit home… very nice and it reminded me why i like my car so much after a long wet winter.

Removed the after-market alarm system; a tangle of wires, tape and cable ties under the ECU. Did the bypass (thanks to Clarks Garage, as ever) of linking terminal 1 (black/white) to terminal 3 (green) on the original alarm plug, but when I turned the key - nothing! Discovered that the alarm had an extra circuit - interrupting the big red/black power cable right up under the fuse box. The installer had removed about 3 inches of the original cable - thanks a lot for that... Now, instead of button-pressing, bleeps and chirrups and a race to get the car started before the LED starts blinking again, I have the old school system: open the doors by putting a key in the lock and turning it, then put the same key in the ignition switch and turn it to start the engine. Much more user-friendly.

I like what you did Mike. Just like mine, simples! [;)] + MOT today and it flew through. Good aren't they but amazing for a 26 year old! [:)]

Serviced it. Tried the trick of putting a can of Forte oil flush into the spark plug holes the night before and leaving it to soak to free up any carbon on the piston rings. New spark plugs, another can of Forte in the oil, and started it to run at a fast idle for 10 minutes before changing the oil, oil filter, cleaning the air filter (K&N so it's reusable) and lubricating the hinges, locks, headlight mechanisms and whatnot. Two other jobs; I discovered where the oil leak was coming from - it's the lower back corner of the rocker box, again! Damned annoying, and it's a biggie too. At least it's easy to get to, so I took that off and cleaned it all up and put it back together. Fingers crossed. I also managed to tear one of the coolant pipes while removing the oil filter. New one is £5.88 from an OPC and I have one ordered, but have managed to nip-and-tuck the old pipe for now. Has that Forte treatment made any difference? Dunno. It is, as usual, much better for a service but I don't know whether that is down to the Forte or just the usual new oil. Oli.

Picked the S2 up from Hartech, had the following OPC supplied parts fitted as preventative maintenance regime as opposed to fault or defect, nice to know that it's been done. New water pump, engine flush and new coolant. New clutch slave cylinder New clutch master cylinder New clutch flexi hose Obviously fresh clutch fluid New belts as part of pump change even though belts last one 12 months/ 3k miles ago All the best, Paul

ORIGINAL: aporschefan You may have said previously but where are you having them from?
They are being done by this chap http://macleodupholsterycou.ipage.com/Contact.html I got his details from another owner who had a set done recently.

Finished fitting the side skirts and then ran the car up to temp. I found a tiny drip of coolant from the alloy elbow at the back of the head. Fixed it and now I need to bleed the brakes put the wheels back on and drive the thing.

Replaced two handbrake springs after it failed the MOT on handbrake power. Found a nail in the edge of both barely worn rear tyres. Arses.

Don't be deceived into thinking that they cant be repaired James. You need to Google "hot vulcanised repair" - the repairs whixch aren't suitable are the cheap glued in bungs that most tyre repairers offer. When they tell you that a "reapir would be illegal" theyre somewhere between ignorant-disingenuous-dishonest - you decide.
