what did you do to your 944 today

Finished bleeding my shiny red calipers and drove it for the first time in a month!!!! Albeit it was only around the sidings at work because I don't have any tax for her but man it felt good [:)] I have really missed her.

From a Lancastrian,it's definitely a compliment-but from this Lancastrian also slightly tongue in cheek-as someone who has spent hours as chair of a FE College,I really do appreciate all the effort put in by our club volunteers-just think that odd ones take it slightly too seriously at times.

Removed one wishbone and the ARB. Couldn't get new bush pushed all the way into the new wishbones so off to find someone with a press in the morning!

decided to investigate why the central locking had stopped working. contorted myself to get underneath the steering wheel and found the central locking unit (clipped to the steering column) all that had happened was the connector had fallen off. wish everything was this simple. only problem was physically getting out again. 6 foot and 14 stone is a big lump to move about in such a confined space. :ROFLMAO: then decided to address the passenger side window switch which only worked to open the window not shut it. pulled it apart cleaned it and put it back together. plenty of carbon build up on the contacts. word of caution; do this somewhere clean- small parts in the switches, also care when you put it back together despite the internals being symmetrical the switches only fit into the door housing one way. found out the hard way of course ;D

Went to Donington Park for the Historic Festival - which included a couple of parade laps - [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVI_doIJWAo&feature=youtube_gdata]video here.[/link] and parked on the infield with Jags Ferraris Lotuss Bentleys TVRs etc Something else the Club can do for you! Great day - I love older cars - sports and racing types especially. Walk round the paddock and see the cars and drivers and talk to them (some of the cars speak better English!) Wonderful! May go again tomorrow. [link=http://s787.photobucket.com/albums/yy158/A9XXC/Donington%20Historic%20Festival%202011/]Donington Historic Festival [/link] Some pics here -

lacquered the replacement mirror mount i sprayed yesterday and fixed the drivers side doorframe switch (contacts oxidized). ace weather for pottering about doing minor fixing. downside is im hearing the hatch rattle and realise i should've planned to reseal it this weekend. ps nice photo there a9xxc :) HAH just went to fit the mirror mount and its not the same. doh! only found this out after id took it all to bits. ah well live and learn. Got her out of the garage, took out the roof and covered another 185 miles through the Essex and Kent countryside, last weekend covered 120 miles and that along with the 420 for the Cotswold rally weekend we are now on our way to 170,000 as she turned 160k last weekend

Today I took off the front lights and gave the globes a good clean. I was pleasantly surprised it was not that difficult to clean the inside of the globes. I reinstalled the Forge recirculating valve that I had purchased some months ago, installed it backwards and noticed it performed better than when installed the way the factory installed it. I readjusted boost settings in the ECU and am now getting seriously aggressive boost build up. Went for a test drive on deserted Sunday evening roads, the car is a d-r-e-a-m [:)]

Finished turning mine red today, the bonnet and roof took ages and I am not happy with them but at least they are red and shiny now

Washed and polished my red Turbo, made the descision to give up trying to scrub my wheels free of the performance friction dust that is embedded in the wheels and I am going to have the wheels professionally stripped and painted in gloss Black as a tribute to my ex race car....[:(] Took it for a spin after to give it an air dry and felt less sulky.

Went to Donington again! Took the square dash for a run, it is son nice to drive, so different from the 2.7 it always suprises me. Loads of pics - [link=http://s787.photobucket.com/albums/yy158/A9XXC/Donington%20Historic%20Festival%202011/]Donington[/link] I love this one though carbon brakes are spectacular!

got mine back from the service and belts and was amazed at how much better the car drives and goes[:)] now many thanks to chris at pie-performance of suffolk [:D] then my sunroof cabele clamp decided to break so thats next on the list just hav to stay shut till payday [:(][:(]

Brought her home after she has been languishing at my work for the last month. God I really missed the smell and fell of the boost arriving [:)] Took it nice and easy though as I have new pads all round to bed in. Really loving the feel of the refurbished calipers though after I got reaccustomed to the 944 pedal travel. It is a little different to more modern cars.

The D90 is probably not the best wheel to show them off. At static anyway. I am sure they look even better on the move.

Took mine up to the airstrip to do some work on one of the aircraft, and my daughter asked me to get some photos of our Dog, Kato, in front of an aircraft for a story she is writing for school...as my car is all shiny red again I couldn't resist this shot of Kato Sky Dog the Superhero:

I meant to reply ages ago to Andy who asked me how my PAS - manual rack conversion had gone. It went very well and was not a difficult job. Car now has a manual rack and is being driven again. It feels nice and direct. For anyone interested it is heavier than an MGB at low speeds and about the same weight as my old 911 SC was and IMO fits the weighting of the pedals much better than the PAS system. Personally I feel it is much better than the PAS system - it is not going to start leaking for instance but it depends what you want from a car. I imagine it would be very heavy for someone who is used to modern cars, though I'm sure someone more used to modern cars and with a 944 with manual rack will beable to answer that much better than I can? As far as the conversion goes I would recommend it to anyone who has problems with their PAS system or would prefer the manual rack. It's easy to do yourself and you only need a few basic tools.

This WE I rebuilt my original 951S engine with all spare parts, I found in my garage.
