what did you do to your 944 today

Changed the front indicator lenses on my S2 bumper back to a set of original amber Bosch ones that I picked up on ebay for a quid - perfect condition and looks much better than the damaged and foggy clear (although clear would be an exaggeration) after market ones a previous owner had put on. Amazing how the little things make such a difference.

In trying to change the gasket under the cam housing I managed to round of one of the large hex bolts on top of the housing and then break an injector pintle cap refitting the fuel rail (after having failed to get the gasket changed due to insufficient tools). However, I did manage to change the cam and balance belts though (without any special tools), and it seems to run ok (fingers crossed[:)]).

I took a photo of the keying to the whole of the passenger side. Lucky I didn't see who did it or I'd be in a cell tonight awaiting trial for gbh instead of eating pitza and chips watching the tv with the missus and downing a San Miquel or 3 . Oh well its not like I look after the old gal I suppose.[;)]

Nick that's awful mate. I bet secretly you wish you did catch them at it. Unfortunately the 944 boot wouldn't be big enough to gag and bind and then put them in for transportation to an undisclosed location.

Thanks Rob but funnily enough I wasn't as devastated as I thought I would be. I think I have been expecting it for the past 15 years so it was about time it happened. I can't think where I have left the car in the past few days ? I suspect it might be my neighbour's kids as we don't talk but I'll never know for sure. I know it was somone short because of the height of the keying. Thank god I didn't catch them as 18 stone of rage is a worrying thought [:(]

Bad Shiit Peanut, I hate that, why do people do that ? It will fix but you can do without, wondering who, why and when will be the worst. Crack another beer open lad, in the grand scheme there is a lot worse things going on in the world. []

exactly my feeling tonight Frenchy. The missus is back tonight after a week away and everything seems well with the world tonight. I'll not let anything spoil it. Have a great weekend everyone.

That's horrible Nick. [&:] I'll never understand why some people do that sort of thing. Today I fitted the new distributor cap and rotor arm. I haven't driven it since the change to confirm if the car performs any different now. Got the radio to work. Not sure what I did, but at least it works now! Getting close to figuring out what's wrong with the horn. The horn definitely works (as I have been able demonstrate, to the annoyance of my neighbours, by earthing the horn button to the door hinge) so it looks like its a dodgy earth on the button. I can't find where the problem with the earth is though. Maybe tomorrow. I found out that part of the windscreen washer pipe has split. Does anyone know of a good place to get original style washer pipes from?

I know what Vitesse did today -

Curborough Sprint Track - Think the heavy ARB would be good! Good to meet you and hope you had a good day. Sorry I couldn't stay longer.

I drove my car out of the garage and removed the doors. I then drove back in and started cutting off the drivers side sill. I guess that's the restoration started! As far as I know I have to: Replace both sills and repair the inner panel that runs next to the suspension mount. Weld up a hole under the battery (it's a S2). Deal with an illuminated ABS light. Treat corrosion creeping into the bottom of the front wings. While it's off the road I think it will be wise to also: Replace the brake lines. Replace the fuel lines. Replace the engine mounts. Overhaul the brake callipers. As I am the worlds slowest mechanic this will take me about 10 years!

well this is it ! gulp. Once you've started chopping into those cills there is no going back [;)] Good luck. You'll have tremendous satisfaction when you've finished and a really sound S2 ..and as any turbo owner will tell you ...the best 944 out there [:(]

New plugs Bosch WRD 7C+ in the 220, fired her up and took a fellow (944 Lux) owner for a wizz down the local By Pass to get some oil pumped around it use the brakes and get some air through it. Pulled in at a layby and gave Steve the drivers seat he has manged to keep hold of his car as he was selling due to work but now working again so his Lux is stopping [:D] He is a coded welder so my back box will be getting a new larger oval trim fitted fitted by him shortly as there is some welding required to make it fit correctly. Nice to see another 944 being kept by an enthusiast, i have even got him polishing it now !

I changed the rubber bands that hold the windscreen wiper mechanism together! I also jacked it up and had a look where the oil was coming from, I think that the Oil Filter wasn't put on properly at the last service and it is going all over the driver's side of the engine/suspension/wheel/bodywork. What is the best tool to remove/replace the oil filter? (Or is it the usual screwdriver hammered through the oil filter to get it off?!)

Halfords sell one.

Me too! And I replaced them with a new arm to the wiper motor (which saw me removing the fan box to get to the wiper stuff to find I could have levered it out with it all in place . . .); unfortunately at high wiper speed it still seems to fall apart - it looks like I replaced the wrong part [:(]. Also oil flush, change and new filter, quick pressure wash and hoover.

Thanks Pauly, will pop in on teh way home tonight and buy one, see if a quick tweak does the trick Neil, I have a big ball of rubber bands in my glove box and change them every month or so, it sounds a much cheaper/easier fix than getting in there with the spanners!
