what did you do to your 944 today

Took S2 to Porschembri nr Heathrow for MOT, passed with one advisory re leaky steering rack which I already knew about. Not bad for 23 years and 117,000 miles. Edd

That's interesting. Have you got one? I spend as much time cleaning under the car as the car - not that I clean that very much I must say. Always been a little hesitiant with power washers - putting water under pressure in gaps it wouldn't normally get or am I being too sensitive?

That chassis cleaner is very tempting...especially as I couldn't clean under the car today because the hose was frozen solid []

no just saw it in this months evo and thought it looked relatively easy to get under the car - expensive add on though

Nothing today, wheels are away with the powder coaters and im waiting for parts from OPC then the brakes are coming off for powder coating also. To top it off I have man flu so I dont really feel like doing much at the moment[:(]

Just got back from the 52 mile round trip that is my Son's school run, looked at the snow and decided that the Porker would be a better bet than the 5 series as it isn't ham-strung with the nannying electronics. Went semi-cross country and there were only a couple of dodgy areas, the worst bit was in Oundle itself and in the school car park (they had cleared the downhill bit, not the uphill!) Was immensely funny mixing it with all the 4x4s at the school gates, the looks I got was worth the trip on its own! I bet they felt so smug that for the second day in a year they 'needed' and justified buying a 4x4, only to have some git in a RWD coupe sail past them.....

You're a braver man than me FA. I've done the 50 mile trip in the snow only to be stranded trying to get on the drive which is a bit of a slope but not much. My route to work is either main roads and busy or side roads and snowy. Said side roads have stranded me before in the 944. I'll admit to looking out and ignoring the weather this morning knowing my old rangie will take it in its stride.

Poor old Engerlund in snow shocker! Nice and mild up here, about 6 degrees and roads nice and dry! Stuart

Pah, its probably raining by now, I mean its been 30 mins since you said that!

no snow or ice here yetdespite the severe weather warnings we had last night ? now I've said that they'll be a blizzard in a minute...[:D] For all you 944 drivers that brag about how they drive their 944 in any conditions take a look at the terrain we face every day leaving and entering our village. We live at approx the 2.5 mile point on the graph (in the trough.) The route in either direction is a climb of over 200 feet on country roads that are never gritted and have either ditches or a 100 foot drop either side of the road. Still think its doable in a 944 ? [:D] well the farmers don't chance it in their tractors when its bad

Not so much today, but over the last few days I have repaired my Microsquirt ECU and set up bluetooth so I can tinker with engine settings from the comfort of my living room. Also installed some free datalogging software (Shadow Logger) on a spare Android phone. Very pleased with it as it not only logs all the engine sensors it also logs GPS speed, G and GPS position, even with an expired sim card in the phone.

you fired my imagination James with your post about Microsquirt engine management . I'd seen some a microsquirt ECU reader on ebay recently without paying too much attention to it so I thought I'd do a google search and found this . thought it might be of interest to other members who like me know next to nothing about this. Brushed the snow off, warmed her up whilst scraping ice and snow off my steep drive, then made a bid for freedom :) Success - and the 944 behaves a lot better on snow and ice than my Beemer

New battery as mine had the wrong one in, it was jumping up and down as I went over bumps ! New Bosch one fitted and it spins over really quick now, the old one was shown to be on its way out. Removed from the back beneath the battery tray 1 Screwdriver 1 dead earth strap 1 aerial 1 Phillips Tv/Video remote control some wood

Oh, and made a new Evo 10 driver work harder than he ever expected to, ok it was quicker but not by much and it had two pipes worth of grwy smoke pouring out, really surprised that a humble S2 cab got anywhere near, expected my arse on a plate.
