Where is the Early 911 Register Secretary?

[&:] sounds a right mix up.. anyway if they are that keen to be active I wish they would look to remove a more damaging RS [8|]

ORIGINAL: Nick Moss

So the club has known they would be without an early911 reg sec since beginning of July.
I spoke to Robin at length about the lack of RS activity at the Silverstone Classic at the end of July, and he gave no indication whatsoever that he knew that PMJT had resigned. In fact he some something along the lines of "we are looking for a way to have him removed soon" if my memory (which isn'y what it used to be) serves me right. Perhaps RObin can clarify this when he gets back from the other side of Europe.

I have been assured there is 'dated' correspondance . Anyway as mentioned above, we should now be looking to the future, but to be honest I'm getting tired of this whole thing. Life is too short, my main way of relaxing away from work is these cars ... I don't really care for the politics side of things.

I'm just hoping for an extension to this nice weather so I might be able to organise another last minute early Porsche drive [:)]

Just appoint amongst yourselves Helen (Reg Sec Elect) and get on with it, Hell will freeze over if you wait for any direction from above just do it!

My first Porsche was a Silver 1972 (EOE 524K)911E 2.4 Sportomatic, looked after by Tony Bianchi need I say more...[:)]

put it to the vote then...

That's what the forums about active members doing stuff right here and right now.. set a date.. set a poll inform PP and it's done. Some thing the board could learn from...[8|]

Ok so we have lined up for the job

1 Hellen
2 No body
3 No body

So I will vote first

er tough one this... er (1) Helen

[:)]

so no one else is voting ?
I thought we were just going to get this sorted or are we all sitting there in shock that Helen is the only person available??

Vote or all this jabering on the last 15 posts was a waste of time!! and you could all be in the running for Board members, talk alot but do nothing [;)]

Not sure it's as simple as just saying . . . 'you're it' following a healthy debate on the forum . . . but I'm not stopping you.

In the interest of being fair, I propose we write something to be placed in next months magazine (I'd imagine Robin has put something in his bit . . . but wouldn't hurt to have something in the Register Section) a) announcing the resignation of Philip Taysom b) asking for people to step forward.

Do people think this is sensible?

Anyone got anything else they want to add to the Register Section??? e.g. pictures, short story etc . . . . I could pull it together and send it off to Mike at club office.

Phil J

I agree Phil I just wanted to get people make a move on this other wise it will January 2008 and we will still be on here talking about it..

All I can say is that to add to PP that on the forum the early 911 owners have put forward Helen as their canditate and if any one else would like to step forward to be considered then do so if not as of...XXX 2007 Helen will be the RS for early 911's

sound fair..

Deffening silence from all around who were very vocal??[8|]

yes very sensible.

Why dont we as a register just boot Phil Taysom out any way as a united register, its easy.I suspect Robin has recieved nothing ,just like the register. The club and members were very concerned when phil took on the role and club data base!,and i for one thought that he was not the right person for the job, purley for the reason of his trade connections.
You/us are the register, may be more input from the members would help, intsead of relying on the register sec to do all the work.
After all the RS is not a event organiser,or is that what you want?
With my register i am a facilitator to the register for the members,eg set up the 993rs forum etc,it now runs its self, which is great. How many times have i requested info for the Monthly write up in the the last 10 years, not one article submitted!!This is normal across most registers.

I will help out with 2 things,
1 I will try and get this register etc on the workers conferance agenda to be sorted next month.
2 I will speak to steve about a date for the next years early porsche track day,me thinking donnington with a noisy day noise limit, and lets get some interesting cars out on the tarmac.Donninton is central to the uk,more interesting than silverstone and plenty of run off for the novice or exotic cars too have a good go!!

Ther is nothing wrong with a replica or presented as Bo-----s,as long as its not claiming to be the real thing. My own car is a kind of copy of my original st,but its faster, handles better and not so expensive to repair. But its not a replica anything but a new build full on expensive group 4 race car that was a original matching numbers 2.4s(still is/can be)
.You can have any porsche and be the register sec, there is no place for car Snobs. One thing though, you do need to be fairly strong and thick scinned to be a RS.

If that is the case why on earth was he left to take it on?

Paul - good offer, thanks. Let us know the date and it will be straight in my diary for 08. Donington would be great for me as only an hour away.

Paul - off topic, but do you have an experience of Gold Track events, as I plan on doing the Donington novice day 14/11.

Jason - is it an Early911 dbase or the whole club? Would Cornbury not update as part of the membership function? What input is needed?

Good lord Paul, you make it sound like a democracy [:D]
I will speak to steve about a date for the next years early porsche track
Excellent idea, Donnington sounds far more interesting than Silverstone. I have heard that Cadwell is an excellent venue, any comments?
there is no place for car Snobs
I thought this was PCGB [;)]

All very well, but am I the only person who remembers that both Goffs (H & L) have 'history' in taking on volunteer positions, only to reverse rather smartly when onerous requirements become apparent ? Robin is on the horns of a dilemma in a big way.

cheers, Maurice [:D]
i think that is a little unfair (to say the least) i was R/O for region 8 for nearly 3 years(is 3 years "rather smartly"[]) before giving up only to have to take it back on again 18 months later as Phil Manfield wanted to step down and no-one would do the job. I then did it again for well over a year before thankfully being able to hand the job over (last Nov) to Patrick Bower, a much better Man for the job as he has better local connections and experience of the area.

Larry took on the Job of Director only to not be given any roll to do except general dogs body, which involved him taking a lot of time of work in order to attend pointless meetings.(bare in mind he was also suporting me in my roll as R/O during this time) he then after (18 months in the job) got promotion at work and wasn't able to commit the time. so stepped down.
he was then asked to be Cayenne R/S as he had had (at time)a Cayenne for over 2 years, this he did untill he sold the car a year later.

However i except that what ever i do will never be anough for some.

surely i wouldn't do a worse job as early 911 R/S than some other have done [:-] ?
I can't however promise i will be a perfect R/S nor can i promise that i won't sell my car and therefore have to step down. [:-]

[8|]
thinking about it, maybe its better if Robin (who after all is Register assistant) take on the job himself, after all he will be (PCGB)jobless in a few months time []
